Marrawah is part of a former 2000 hectare grazing property located on the western edge of the Gunnedah Coal Basin.
A full ecological inventory is currently being undertaken, This page will be updated once these studies are completed.
The following vegetation types have been recorded on Marrawah:-
- Blakely’s Red Gum-Yellow Box Woodland, 54 ha (Part of the White Box-Yellow Box- Blakely’s Woodland Endangered Ecological Community)
- Yellow Box-Rough-barked Apple Woodland, 20 ha (Part of the White Box-Yellow Box- Blakely’s Woodland Endangered Ecological Community)
- Derived Native Grassland, 5 ha (Part of the White Box-Yellow Box- Blakely’s Woodland Endangered Ecological Community)
- Ironbark-Red Stringybark Woodland, 154 ha
- Ironbark-Box Woodland, 160 ha

The following threatened fauna species are predicted to occur on Marrawah:-
- Threatened Woodland birds including Grey-crowned Babbler, Brown Treecreeper, Diamond Firetail
- Squirrel Glider
- Regent Honeyeater
- Barking and Masked Owls

The following management activities are either underway or planned:-
- Cessation of grazing and firewood/fence post collection
- Fencing to keep stock out from adjoining properties.
- Rehabilitation of Council gravel quarry
- African Love Grass control
