Goonama is part of a former 3000 hectare grazing property that adjoins the Piliga State Conservation area, south of the towns of Piliga and Wee Waa.
A full ecological inventory is currently being undertaken, This page will be updated once these studies are completed.
The following vegetation types have been recorded on Goonama:-
- Piliga Box Woodland (Regionally significant)
- River Red Gum Forest Regionally significant)
- Carbeen Open Forest community of the Darling Riverine Plains (Endangered Ecological Community)
- Bulloke & Belah Woodlands (Regionally significant)
- Narrow-leaved Ironbark-Cypress Pine Woodland
The following threatened species have been recorded on Goulburn River:-
The following threatened species are predicted to occur on Goulburn River:-
- Piliga Mouse
- Barking and Grass Owls
- Squirrel Gliders
- Threatened Woodland birds
The following management activities are either underway or planned:-
- Cessation of grazing and firewood/fence post collection to allow regeneration of Ironbark woodlands following sleeper cutting
- Fencing to keep stock out from adjoining properties.
